Name: Megan E. Godbold
DOB: March 1984
Hometown: Mason, MI
I was raised in a rural area just outside of Lansing, Michigan’s capitol. Being an only child, I had to find ways to entertain myself which was usually by playing with my dog outside in the yard or back by the secluded lake behind my house. My mother stayed at home and spent her leisure time gardening or landscaping in the yard. My father worked hard and spent his weekends hunting and fishing. Needless to say, I developed an affinity for gardening, fishing, hunting, and greatly enjoyed cutting wood to supply the woodstove for the winter. Also, being that my mother cooked most of our meals from scratch, I have always placed a priority on doing the same for myself.
I moved to Minnesota in January of 2007 after graduating with my B.S. from Michigan State and a brief stint of unemployment. Leaving home was probably the hardest thing I have ever done, especially since I moved with 6 days notice. However difficult it was, and the numerous times I wanted to give up, I made myself get through it, clinging to the saying, “that which doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger”, which has since become my personal motto.

I am pursuing a Master of Science degree in technical communication from Metropolitan State University. Being that I have always had a strong interest in communications and information design, this program is helping me to polish and strengthen my skills.
I currently reside in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, with my two cats. Though I have become quite busy with work and my education, I still try and make time to indulge in my hobbies. During my precious downtime, I may be found volunteering, fishing, , kayaking, xc skiing, camping, sewing, reading, cooking, talking to my parents, hiking and taking photos.
I do not spend a lot of time thinking about the future, rather, I try and make decisions in my present that will keep me on a positive path.
